On July 16 & 17, we will be hosting a motivational interviewing training session for our RMI-Family Project interview team in Edmonton. The training will focus on providing everyone with a strong theoretical foundation on motivational interviewing, which will be accompanied by a significant amount of practice using the RMI-Family interview tool. Group and breakout sessions will enable each trainee an opportunity to gain hands on experience administering the tool. With a ratio of 4 trainees to 1 instructor, there will be ample opportunity for feedback, questions, and troubleshooting. Of particular importance, standardization of the data collection process in the spirit of motivational interviewing, across interviewers and time, is the central theme.
The training will play a major role in ensuring that the data we collect over the next couple of years from families at both of our sites in Calgary and Edmonton will be of the highest quality possible.
Remember, research findings are only as good as the data they are based on!
